sometimes I feel hands

sometimes I feel hands discusses the phantom feelings I get inside my body. I've felt them since I was at least twenty. There will be long periods where I don't feel them at all. However, when I made this book, I was on a medication that made them much more frequent and intense.

In order to create a more surreal landscape for my imagery, I hand marbled my paper. Then I mirrored the marbled effect in my screenprinting using watercolors and transparency to fill out the phantom arms. The text and illustrations of myself are in a solid gray because, even the phantom feelings I get aren't real, I am and the experiences I had are.
